We're On the Road to Nowhere

Diane remarked today that it's a bit like Christmas. You wait and wait and wait and then suddenly it's all happening. That's how it was this morning. Somehow packing for three months is the least stressful part of it. In America, if you haven't brought it with you, you can buy it when you get there - probably at a cheaper price. Sorting out the complexities of paying bills, renewing insurances, getting the dustbin emptied and such stuff is far more stressful.

And then on the train for a restful ride down - I didn't know they had entertainment centers on the back of the seat in front. Brilliant! Almost  everyone on the journey was being electronically entertained. Diane on a diet of Outnumbered and Fawlty Towers, me with talking books on travelling 1930's England and how to dispose of a body once you've murdered him/her.

Shame neither of us got to enjoy the countryside.

We're now in Days Hotel in Hounslow. Just a hundred yards or so down from Hounslow central with a tube train every ten minutes to Heathrow in the morning. Many thanks to my travel agent daughter for recommending this one. The planes flying low overhead as they prepare to land will no doubt lull us to sleep.

When we arrive in the US tomorrow we will have reached the end of out planned journey. Everything from then on is either in the lap of the Gods, or depends on our whim. It'll be interesting to see where we end up...
